Album Review: SOGOLO by WITCH

Sometime leading lights of Zamrock develop in many directions as their second coming continues The story of WITCH (it stands for We Intend To Cause Havoc) is the kind of thing that if you saw it in a film, you’d probably think it was a little bit too far fetched to be credible. Formed in the 1970s and continuing into the ’80s, they released a string of albums that had them come to be known as the Zambian Beatles, and they were the leading lights of what would be known as the Zamrock movement. When AIDS took the lives of all but one of the original members, that seemed to be the end of the band’s career.

After pulling off what may be the most unlikely of musical resurrections in 2017, Zamrock icons WITCH (aka W.I.T.C.H / We Intend To Cause Havoc) are back with 'Sogolo'. Their second album this century sees the band comfortably back in the saddle, while also passing the baton to a new generation. Nowadays, the group consists of loveable frontman Jagari, veteran keyboardist/composer Patrick Mwondela, and a fresher-faced multinational group of musicians.
