Scattered across 17 tracks which never stray over three minutes in length, the latest album from Frankie Cosmos, Different Talking, jumps between fragmented memories. Opener Pressed Flower is an ode to loyal listeners reminiscent of 2022's wistful Abigail. Bitch Heart yearns for connection to nature through hazy harmonies and gentle synths. Frenzied drums echo the humdrum of modern life.
Opinion: Excellent
A lovely sixth addition to the Frankie Cosmos-verse, 'Different Talking' positions itself as a thoughtful reflection and ode to the gutsy nature of her twenties. Or, to put it another way, Greta Kline is enjoying growing up. This time around, her outfit present as a full band proper, the line between Frankie and Greta further blurs, as the long-time favourites of the genre help cement the renaissance of bedroom pop.
