This celebration of life and survival is, despite its traumatic origins, not a depressing or morbid listen It’s the 10th anniversary of Circa Waves‘ debut album, Young Chasers and to mark the occasion, the Liverpool quartet have released not one, but two albums in 2025. This isn’t a cash-in celebratory occasion though – the back story behind Death & Love is rather more sombre. In 2023, lead singer Kieran Shudall underwent emergency surgery to clear a blockage in the main artery of his heart.

Back in January, Liverpool-based band Circa Waves released their sixth full-length album, Death & Love Pt. 1. They found their sound early on in their career and have remained committed to it for over a decade, using their sun-soaked, energetic melodies to express their life experiences.
